Dr. Oleh Khalimonchuk is the Susan J. Rosowski Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also a member of Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Center for Iron & Hematology Disorders at the University of Utah. Dr. Khalimonchuk received his Ph.D. degree from the TU Dresden/Max-Planck Institute for Cell Biology & Genetics (Germany) in 2006 and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City.<br>Dr. Khalimonchuk’s research is focused on fundamental processes underlying the key aspects of vital mitochondrial functions and their contribution to aging-associated complex diseases in humans. His current research interests include the mechanisms of intramitochondrial heme trafficking in health and disease and neuroprotective roles of mitochondrial quality control factors.
