Joan Barnes is the Community Engagement Librarian and a member of the User Experience Team for the Libraries at the University of Nebraska where she is responsible for marketing, communications, outreach, and events. She actively promotes the Libraries’ services and resources to students, faculty, and the general public. Joan coordinates the Peer Guide program that employs students to assist the Libraries with publicity of its services in a student to student model via social media and events. She enjoys mentoring the students that are selected for the program. Joan received her BA in psychology from the University of Maine at Farmington and her Masters in Library & Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island.
