Richard Endacott, is a Nebraska native raised on a cattle ranch outside of Lincoln.  He holds a B.A. in Political Science from The Colorado College (1984) and an MS in film production from the Boston University School of Communication (1990), Prior to graduate school he interned with Archive Film Productions in New York, and produced cable television advertising as a writer/director.  As a graduate student, Endacott produced and directed the films <i>Ice River Journa</i><i>l, One Saturday Morning </i>and <i>Growing Futures</i>, and was actively involved with the student-run production company Film Unit.<br><br>In 1990, Endacott moved to Los Angeles and worked as a film location manager before joining Edward Asner’s Quince Productions, Inc.  Returning to Nebraska in 1993, he teamed up with Dana Altman (grandson of Robert Altman) and Dan Mirvish (Slamdance festival founder), to produce <i>Omaha: the movie</i>.  After completing the film, Endacott and Altman continued to work together, creating the production company North Sea Films. With North Sea, Endacott wrote and produced a variety of film and television projects, including the television pilot <i>Diggin’ In with Roger Welsch</i>,<i> Through the Music</i>, a concert special from David Crosby’s band CPR, and two half-hour dramatic films <i>Porch Light</i> and <i>Through the Window. </i>Both films addressed issues related to HIV/AIDS.  His final project with North Sea Films was the feature <i>The Private Public</i>.<br><br>In 1999, Endacott joined the Carson School faculty and in Fall 2000 became the first full-time Assistant Professor of Film Production at UNL. Endacott was promoted to Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2018.  Over the past twenty-three years, Endacott and his colleagues developed the Film and New Media emphasis from a handful of courses into a full-fledged undergraduate program in media production, with graduates going on to a range of successful careers in the film and television industry.<br><br>An active filmmaker, Endacott continues to write, produce and direct.  Starting in 2001, he has produced and directed more than 30 titles in the Broadway Jr. and KIDS Collection series for Music Theatre International and Disney Theatricals.  He has also produced two Carson School film series projects:<i> Vipers in the Grass</i> and<i> DIGS</i>.  In 2013, Endacott wrote, produced and co-directed the feature, <i>Laurence</i>. Released in 2016, the film has screened in several film festivals is now available on Amazon Prime and iTunes.
