Ashley Ahrens

Hi, I am Ashley Ahrens, MSN, RN a FNH educator located in Dawes county serving Sioux, Dawes, Sheridan, and Box Butte counties. Prior to joining the extension team as an educator, I worked as a Registered Nurse. I have a passion for preventative medicine and am looking forward to implementing programming designed to prevent illness and injury.<br><br>I grew up in the southern part of Colorado showing horses and dogs in 4-H. In 2019 I graduated from Chadron State College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After graduating from CSC I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I completed a Master of Science in Nursing, graduating from Marquette University in 2020.<br><br>During my time working as a bedside nurse, I have worked in the emergency department, labor and delivery and with the general hospitalized population. Through my work as a nurse, I have seen the health and nutrition inequalities within my community and hope to address those working in this position. I value diversity and understand that health and wellness programming and success are not "one size fits all".
