Native Nebraskan. Taught high school agricultural education for five years at Arkansas City High School in Arkansas City, Kansas. Completed an MS degree from Kansas State University and doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Spent two years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, Wisconsin and then moved to South Dakota State University of Brookings, South Dakota for five years. Arrived at UNL in the fall of 2000 in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication and worked in the CASNR Dean's Office in student affairs through 2015.
