Heather Hruskoci is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Educational Psychology Department, and the Director of the Counseling and School Psychology Clinic. She is responsible for teaching core clinical and field placement coursework in both the School Psychology and Counseling Psychology programs. Specifically, she teaches Pre-Practicum in Counseling Psychology (EPDS 866), Clinical Practice in School Psychology (EDPS 982), Beginning Practicum in Counseling Psychology (EDPS 997A), and Field Placement in Counseling Psychology (EDPS 997B). Dr. Hruskoci is a licensed psychologist and she is responsible for providing clinical supervision to masters and doctoral students. She completed her internship training at Family Service & Guidance Center in Topeka, Kansas. She is trained in utilizing an integrative approach, incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child-Centered Therapy, using a systems framework to treat a variety of mental health concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma). Dr. Hruskoci has worked in a community mental health center and in a private practice setting before coming to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2020. Dr. Hruskoci serves on the Professional Competencies and Practicum Training Committee (as part of the Association for Directors of Psychology Training Clinics) and the Academic Affairs Committee (as part of the Nebraska Psychological Association). She also serves on the Youth and Young Adult Committee (as part of the HopeLNK Suicide Prevention Coalition).
