Shinya Takahashi, PhD, NSCA-CSCS, ACSM EP-C
Dr. Takahashi is an Assistant Professor of Practice and Nutrition and Health Sciences Assistant Department Chair at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences. He currently teaches NUTR384 Biomechanics of Human Movement, NUTR150 Foundations in Nutrition and Health Promotion, and NUTR100 Nutrition, Exercise and Health. He has taught NUTR488 Practicum in Exercise & Health Behavior, FITN 222 Personal Training Preparation, FITN102P Advanced Conditioning, FITN112 Weight Training I, and FITN 112D, Weight Training II in addition to above mentioned courses. His research area is exercise and healthy living and resistant training and adaptation outcomes. Currently, his lab is investigating college students’ dietary practice, physical activity level, physical fitness level, blood chemistry, and body composition as well as relationships between dynamic one repetition maximum (1RM) squat exercise (the maximum amount of weight that an individual can lift only one time) and various knee angles of maximum isometric squat exercise (the maximum effort to push against an immovable weight training bar) in recreationally trained college-aged individuals.
The Wellness Assessment Laboratory (Leverton Hall, room 108) is directed by Dr. Takahashi. The lab is equipped with a portable force plate, a bioelectrical impedance (BIA) machine, anthropometric measurement devices, a reflectance photometry blood analysis machine, tri-axial accelerometers, a treadmill, a cycle ergometer, free weights and a power rack.
